Online reviews about your appliance repair business are highly visible in search results and can be the difference between whether someone picks up the phone to call you or not.  Here are some tips on how to help you monitor your online reputation.

Claim and control your business listings

By claiming your business listings on major websites such as Google Maps, Yelp, Bing Places, Yellow Pages, etc., you will be able to respond quickly to any customer reviews and also correct incorrect or missing information about your business.

Probably the most prominent place customers will leave you a review is on your business listing for Google Maps.  Claiming this listing is done through Google My Business. It’s vital that you claim and monitor your reviews here as Google Maps come up first whenever someone is searching for local services—including appliance repair.

Keep all the usernames, passwords and URLs to your listings in a spreadsheet, so you can access this information quickly when you need it.

Although not a review website, you should also set up a Facebook page and monitor any reviews you receive there as well.

Monitor and Respond to Reviews

Now that you have your listings claimed, you need to routinely monitor these websites and listings for any new reviews. For your Google My Business listing on Google Maps, you will get an email alert in your Gmail account any time someone leaves a new review about your business.  So if your main email account is not a Gmail account, you need to make sure you log into it periodically for review notifications and other messages from Google about your listing.

You want to make sure your listing is not only complete and filled out with the correct information, but that past customers have good things to say about the quality of your service.

Be Proactive in Getting Reviews

Try to encourage your customers to leave a review, especially if you know they are happy with your service. This might be something as simple as a follow up phone call, or email to a past customer. Ask them how their appliance is working and if everything seems good, then ask them to leave you a review. You can even copy a paste a link to your Google Maps listing to make it easier for them to leave a review there. If you do not have their email address, as them for it! Then send them the link to your Google Listing. You want to make it as easy as possible for the customer to leave you a review.
