In my last blog post, I talked about why having an appliance repair website isn’t enough to get you to the first page of Google. I talked about the many different types of sites and businesses your appliance repair company is competing against for that coveted first page placement on Google. You need to do more in order to move up in Google’s search engine results pages (SERPs) and one of those things should be creating great content.

Why creating content is important

Creating content gives people more reasons to find and visit your site. Let’s say their appliance is making a strange noise and you write a blog post about the different types of noises a troubled appliance can make and what causes them.  You have a greater likelihood of being found in Google search results for someone doing a search on that topic. If someone finds your site useful, and you create good content on a regular basis, that person will have a greater reason to return to your site again and again. More traffic means your site has a better chance of ranking higher for relevant search terms –like appliance repair — and you may move up higher in the search rankings.

In addition to being found in search, content can be shared by others and increases the possibility of others linking back to your content – which also helps your site’s search results.

Content can also show that you are an expert in your field which might persuade someone to call your company the next time they need an appliance repair.

Remember, you want your content to be relevant to what your website is about, so keep that in mind when developing content. Google also has some tips to follow when creating content.

Don’t forget photos and video

Photos, videos and appliance diagrams are also considered content and can capture a reader’s eye and easily convey information that an article cannot. For images, think of posting photos of appliance parts, step-by- repairs, what a bad part might look like, or even shots of your van or appliance repair truck. Be sure that these are images that you have created and own and not images taken from other websites.

The more content you create on your website, the more content Google has to index and the more reasons people have for visiting and linking to your site.
