Google has rebranded its lead generation ads and is now called Local Services by Google. The re-branding of the ads, formerly known and Google Home Services, better reflects the inclusion of additional services not directly related to the home such as dentists and auto repair.
The ads will appear at the top of search pages for people searching for local services. Ads, appointments and ad budgets will be managed through a mobile app. The cost per lead is also displayed and is priced by Google for “each job type in each area.”
One thing that has not changed is that in order to participate, businesses will be required to be verified by Google.
“All Google Guaranteed businesses that appear in Local Services are background checked and display a badge of trust, which limits deceptive advertisers, elicits trust among users and highlights quality businesses,” wrote Google on its blog.
Currently the program is limited to just 30 cities and a handful of business categories such as locksmiths, plumbers, electricians, HVAC, and garage door services.
